Milton Keynes Medical Facility

This interesting scheme for the conversion of a redundant coachworks site into a high end private medical facility entailed the creation of an Operating Theatre and associated facilities within a building boasting an interesting historic heritage.

Careful planning of the layout was required to ensure that all the necessary ancillary facilities could be incorporated within the building.

A bold contemporary extension was also planned, requiring sensitive design considerations to create an external plant room on several floors, along with a staircase and a lift. The scheme also incorporated ‘recovery pods’ for patients on the upper floor.

The plan is to convert the whole site, which includes two further buildings into a Wellness Centre, Hydrotherapy facility and Consulting and Treatment rooms. The design of the scheme throughout has been with an eye to successfully blending the latest in medical technologies comfortably within and alongside this historic setting.
